So I have officially signed for for a Half Ironman in September. This will be the hardest event I will ever be training for. After coming off my Tough Mudder event in April, I feel as if I can do anything. So I thought I could do anything. I had been thinking about doing a Half Ironman for a while and now with one happening at Gifford Pinchot State Park, I felt the race was calling me.
Now I want to explain to you what the race consists of; a 1 mile swim, 55 mile bike ride, and to finish it off a 13 mile run. It doesn't seem that tough right?? Well I am hoping in 16 weeks I can cross the finish line saying "oh it was that bad after all". The other great thing about this race is that it goes toward the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. My goal is to raise $300. I am hoping to train hard and maybe fundraise hard and over exceed that goal.
This blog will track my training and maybe be able to keep me on track, and sane. As I clicked the sign me up button, I realize the craziness that I was setting myself up for. This is going to take a lot of discipline in both exercising and in nutrition (which by the way if you knew me, eating healthy... not so easy), but I know I can do this.
As you read my blog I hope to encourage, and inspire you to take a chance and do something athletically crazy. I hope that you can give me encouragement on the days that I feel like I can't go on, and for those who have faced this challenge, helpful advice.
Thanks, and here's to the start of the newest crazy goal in my life.
